10Tons Releases Puzkend Puzzler Follow Up to Azkend 2 Posted: 31 Aug 2012 02:30 PM PDT We told you when 10Tons launched Azkend 2: The World Beneath for the PlayBook last week as a follow up to the original. Now they have followed up with the launch of Puzkend that replaces Azkend's action puzzle style with just a pure puzzle style. That means there are 244 levels of puzzles where you have to clear the board by matching tiles. There is no time limit and unlimited undos. In other words this is the more relaxing but challenging puzzler from 10Tons. Check out Puzkend for $1.99 in App World. Check out the trailer for the game below to get an idea of the gameplay: Desktop Video Link | Mobile Video LinkIf you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Jabra Solemate & Satechi Swift Bluetooth Speakers Posted: 31 Aug 2012 12:45 PM PDT I am always on the hunt for a better Bluetooth speaker to listen to music in the shower so I had to check out the Jabra Soulmate and Satechi Swift BT Speaker. The Soulmate is a new Bluetooth speaker from Jabra that actually has a rubber sole on the bottom that you can replace with other options. It is set to launch September 2nd but is going to sell for a whopping $199 from Amazon, BestBuy, and the likes. If you want to go with a cheaper option then the Satechi Swift BT Speaker may be your bet for only $29.99. Supposedly the Saitech Swift packs a real punch and a 4 hour battery life. The only downside is that it is charged by MiniUSB that has fallen out of favor for MicroUSB. Check it out from Satechi for $29.99. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Shares High Level Roadmap for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 Posted: 31 Aug 2012 10:18 AM PDT
RIM just introduced Mobile Fusion in May of this year and it looks like that name will be going away in 2013 and replaced with BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. Jeff Holleran, RIM's Senior Director for Enterprise Product Management, wrote up a great follow up to his ActiveSync explanation this time focusing on the next six months of enterprise solutions from RIM. Here are some of the highlights:
Not too much detail in there but still good to know. What I really want to know is what IT Policies and Management configurations RIM will support at launch of BlackBerry 10. Those IT Policies are where RIM really shines in the enterprise and government sectors. Check out the details of Holleran's update here. PS: What do you guys think of RIM continuing the same BES acronym for BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10? Will it be confusing or will it streamline conversation? Modern Combat 3 Now Available On BlackBerry PlayBook! Posted: 31 Aug 2012 09:51 AM PDT Gameloft has just released their third installment of Modern Combat Series, Modern Combat3: Fallen Nation for the BlackBerry PlayBook! Modern Combat 2 was one of the first high-quality games available for the BlackBerry PlayBook, and eventually, RIM made it free for PlayBook uses, starting with developers in Singapore with BlackBerry DevCon Asia and then subsequently to everyone. Now, Modern Combat 3 is here, ever ready to challenge you to the next limit. Modern Combat3: Fallen Nation includes the following features:
Now packing a whopping 735mb worth of gameplay, up from 500+mb in Modern Combat 2. So I do expect a much more intense gameplay then the other. Check out their trailer! Desktop Video Link | Mobile Video LinkIf you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Enticing Enterprise Developers to Attend BlackBerry Jam Americas 2012 Posted: 31 Aug 2012 08:42 AM PDT
RIM has not forgotten its enterprise roots and is also focusing on BlackBerry 10 enterprise developers at BlackBerry Jam Americas 2012. They posted up some details about enterprise developer specific tracks at the conference. They have not posted all the details of the sessions but they do recommend:
They are also running a Enterprise Developer Lab at the conference to give application developers some one on one time with RIM specialists to make their apps ready for BlackBerry 10's launch. Check out the details on the BlackBerry BizBlog and don't forget to sign up for the conference here. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Turns Out Apple May Not Exactly Own “Pinch to Zoom” Posted: 31 Aug 2012 08:01 AM PDT
With all the craziness in the Apple vs Samsung battle one of the patents that seems to keep on coming up is the "pinch to zoom" gesture. It was introduced with the original iPhone and other vendors have been jumping around it since. Even RIM added pinch to zoom in apps like the browser and email since they purchased Torch mobile. This has made some wonder what Steve Jobs meant back in 2007 when he said "Boy we have patented it" for "Pinch to Zoom." Nilay Patel of The Verge has attempted to deconstruct the "Myth" that Apple has a patent on "Pinch to Zoom." It looks like Apple only has a limited patent on a certain use of "Pinch to Zoom." Even according to Google "Apple’s ’915 patent claims a very specific software implementation, and the implementation is different in Jelly Bean." It should be interesting to see what vendors including RIM do now that Apple has won this patent battle. I am really hoping they stick with "pinch to zoom" and find a way around Apple's implementation. If you are interested in the details I recommend checking out Patel's full writeup here. Don’t Install FinFisher Malware On Your BlackBerry Posted: 31 Aug 2012 05:32 AM PDT
There has been a bit of a media craze about FinFisher and its remote control malware toolkit recently. The media (Bloomberg) is reporting about a new malware strain found called FinFisher that is targeting Windows Phone, iOS, Android, BlackBerry, and Symbian and can remotely control the devices. They fail to mention that users on BlackBerry have to actively install this malware on their device for it to work since it does not exploit any weakness in the BlackBerry software. This has lead to RIM recommending once again that users not install malware on their BlackBerrys. This is pretty self explanatory but I guess it needs to be mentioned. They also recommend not giving malicious apps the permissions to perform sensitive functions on your BlackBerry. Check out their post on the BizBlog for more details.
