Show Me the Images App Updated to Support BlackBerry 7 Devices

Show me the images Show me the images2

The popular Show Me the Images app has been updated by Kisailabs this week. The new update finally gives it BlackBerry OS 7.0 compatibility which they were struggling with for awhile. As a reminder Show Me the Images makes images download automatically in messages based on your safe list, block list, or without any restrictions instead of RIM's method of making you request the images.

You can buy the updated version of Show Me the Images in App World for $1.99

The Last Stand: Zombie Apocalypse Released for the PlayBook (Marmalade SDK)

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 03:02 PM PDT

Zombie Apocalypse Zombie Apocalypse2

The Marmalade SDK games keep on coming out for the BlackBerry PlayBook. We told you before that The Last Stand: Zombie Apocalypse was coming to the PlayBook and it is now available from 7 Raven Studios Co. The game is sort of middle of the road between Flash and Native in terms of graphics but it actually has some pretty fun gameplay. It is a great deal for a game when you consider the $0.99 price tag.

You can pick up The Last Stand: Zombie Apocalypse in App World for $0.99

RIM Updates Twitter for BlackBerry 2.1 in BetaZone

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 11:42 AM PDT

RIM just sent an email stating that they have rolled out Twitter V2.1.0.18.  One of the biggest updates in the last version was multiple accounts, and seems they have added a shortcut (alt+space) now in the app to change from account to account.  More changes listed after the break.

  • *Fixed* Tweet Refresh – Notifies on every Tweet and not according to time specified in application Options
  • *Fixed* Social Feeds – Unable to view user profiles of multiple @mentions
  • *Fixed* Social Feeds – Cannot respond to a Tweet from selected account
  • *Fixed* Universal Search – Message thread does not open
  • *Fixed* Messages – Moving cursor to the right in message list causes the list to scoll to the bottom (should go up or down one line)

If you are already a BetaZone member or wish to sign up, you can find follow the link for more details;  BlackBerry BetaZone.

RIM Rolling Out BlackBerry Bridge v1.0.7.4 – PlayBook OS Update Coming Soon?

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 09:39 AM PDT

BlackBerry Bridge

We have been getting tips that RIM is starting yet another update rollout for BlackBerry Bridge this time to v1.0.7.4. These updates are almost always followed up with a PlayBook OS update. My guess by the marginal version update this is just a small PlayBook OS update. On the other hand it could be that this just helps with BlackBerry Bridge. I will report back once it is installed and everything is working.

You can find the updated BlackBerry Bridge in App World here. Kudos to N4BB for the screencap!

Battle Frogging Brings Angry Birds Like Gameplay to the PlayBook

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 08:10 AM PDT

Battle Frogging Battle Frogging2

The name of the game first got me hoping that the classic NES game Battle Frogs was coming to the PlayBook but sadly that is not the case. You might as well call Battle Frogging and Battle Frogging II a simpler game of Angry Frogs. You are flinging frogs into beavers in the classic fashion to knock out all the beavers. Both the first and second version of the game are both pretty fun and both come with free limited level trial games.

Battle Frogging3 Battle Frogging4

Check out how the gameplay works below in this video of the first game:

You can pick up both games in App World now in both a premium or demo version:

You can also check out more on the official site www.frogging-game.com/

Tether Officially Lowers Price to $29.99

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 07:35 AM PDT

Tether BlackBerry

I have always been a bit apprehensive of Tether for BlackBerry but it does have its uses. They let us know this morning that their "team felt it was time to re-evaluate" their pricing and lower it to $29.99 "after extensive price testing." At first you may think that $29.99 is not that great of a deal until you consider that for three years they were charging an obscene $49.99. There were multiple times where you could pick up tether in the store for 50% off which would be lower than this price but who knows if they will continue doing that.

Either way you can now find Tether in App World and the store for their new official $29.99 price

PS: Anybody else wonder how apps like Tether get into App World when carriers hate them while RIM rejects other apps on a whim?

RIM Offers Downgrade Steps from PlayBook OS 2.0 Beta to v1.0.7

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 06:53 AM PDT

playbook-downgrade-1

This has been floating around for at least a week now in the official RIM forums but now RIM has spelled out. Some users have wanted to downgrade from the PlayBook OS 2.0 beta back to the official v1.0.7. RIM has been kind enough to detail the steps in a blog post on the BlackBerry Help blog. The main thing you need to know is that it can take 24 hours waiting to get back to the previous version.

Check out the full instructions here or below. Personally I am very curious to know why users are downgrading. Is it because of BlackBerry Bridge?

Provided 24 hours have passed since signing up and installing the Developer Beta OS, complete the following steps using BlackBerry® Desktop Software to return to the current non-beta release (v1.0.7) of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS.

Tip: BlackBerry Desktop Software is available for PC and Mac users, and the latest version can be downloaded from the BlackBerry Desktop Software website.

Restoring the BlackBerry PlayBook OS to v1.0.7 will erase everything on the tablet, so make sure that you back up any important documents and files before proceeding. Important: If you backup your PlayBook while it is running the Developer Beta OS, you'll be unable to restore this backup file to your PlayBook once you've loaded OS v1.0.7. This is in reference to running a general back up using the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. What you can back up safely are specific documents, photos, or other files – and then reload them once you've restored OS v1.0.7. There are several methods to accomplish this; consider using USB File Sharing, or Wi-Fi® File Sharing to backup important documents, photos, or other files before proceeding with the steps below.

Requirements:

  • BlackBerry PlayBook tablet with at least 20% battery life
  • BlackBerry Desktop Software and a USB cable
  • Active Internet connection

Instructions:

  1. Turn off the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet
  2. Using a PC or Mac, open BlackBerry Desktop Software
  3. Using the USB cable, connect the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet to your computer:
    • If prompted, enter your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet password
  4. A dialog will appear stating BlackBerry Desktop Software cannot connect to your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. When this appears, click "Update".

    playbook-downgrade-1

    • Note, this dialog will disappear when the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet boots up completely. If this occurs, disconnect the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and repeat the previous steps to get the dialog to appear again.
  5. Enter your email address or uncheck "Yes, email me when updates are available".
  6. Depending on which version of BlackBerry Desktop Software you are using select one of the following options:
    • BlackBerry Desktop Software for PC, click "Install".
    • BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac, click "Repair".

playbook-downgrade-2

After clicking one of the above options, your BlackBerry PlayBook tablet should have the current non-beta release of the BlackBerry PlayBook OS installed (v1.0.7). After the OS is restored to v1.0.7, you'll be presented with the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet Setup Wizard, which will allow you to setup the tablet again. While setting up your tablet again, you can check out the BlackBerry PlayBook category of the Inside BlackBerry Help Blog to learn more about your tablet.

BlackBerry Curve 9370 Coming to Verizon This Month? (World Phone CDMA Curve)

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 05:55 AM PDT

BlackBerry Curve 9370 Verizon

A new rebate sheet scored by Engadget shows the BlackBerry Curve 9370 coming to Verizon. We have not heard much about the Curve 9370 which differs from the 9350/9360 models by having 1GB of storage instead of the 9350/9360's 512MB of storage. The 9370 is also a world phone which is a first for the Curve like packing a Dual-Band: 800/1900 MHz CDMA/EVDO Rev A antenna with a Quad-Band: 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz GSM/GPRS/EDGE antenna.

The rebate sheet for this month has it having a $50 rebate but no word on price. I have been using a BlackBerry Curve 9350 on Sprint for the last few days and am really liking the device. Anybody else waiting to get one of these?

All Touch BlackBerry Curve 9380 Shows Up in Telus Flyer

Posted: 03 Nov 2011 04:55 AM PDT

Telus BlackBerry Curve 9380 Flyer

We have seen the all touch BlackBerry Curve 9380 a few times and now we have some more confirmation. MobileSyrup spotted a Telus flying showing the BlackBerry Curve 9380 coming for the holiday season. It has a 3.2 inch screen with 360×480 resolution with an 800Mhz CPU, 5PM camera, and a few other perks. This is really going to be the first touchscreen in the Curve line and also the first without a keyboard going all touch.

What do you think of the Curve 9380? Interested or would you simply get a Torch 9850/9860?
