RIM Showing Off BlackBerry 10 Beta Phones to Carriers – More Details Shared! Posted: 14 Aug 2012 08:20 PM PDT
The Wall Street Journal just got us some juicy details from RIM's CEO Thorsten Heins. According to their feedback Heins confirmed that they are currently showing two phones starting this week to carriers in beta mode. One is with a keyboard and one without with the latter launching first. Heins confirmed that this will be the first two of six eventual devices with half been touchscreen only. Also we learned that BlackBerry 10 phones will have replaceable batteries which is awesome! Heins told the WSJ that "We're near the finishing line" and that "the physical shape and feel of the new phones is finished and the software nearly complete." RIM is on a five week roadshow now showing off two beta versions of the phones to carriers which they hope will help garner support for launching the devices. Check out the full interview via Google (or directly via the WSJ PayWall) If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Hi all. Many of you have been asking about me not being around for the last two weeks or so. I was on an anniversary vacation out in Italy and should be back when you read this. I picked up some great tips for traveling in Europe with my BlackBerry and getting around thanks to my PlayBook and PDF public transport maps. (side note: Google Maps is horrible in Italy so I could not go that route) Now that I am back you will be see more of me in our regularly scheduled programming. Until then I highly recommend checking out my favorite gadget I used on the trip which is the Tripshell travel adapter. It has two built in USB ports along with plugs for most countries all in a compact package. It pumps out 1A per port which is more than enough for your BlackBerry 7 smartphone and PlayBook. You will need to pick up charging only USB cables to fool newer BlackBerry 7 devices into charging (I hate that feature) but that is a trick for later.
