Last month RIM introduced the BlackBerry WebWorks SDK v2.1 for the PlayBook Tablet OS and now the smartphone variant is getting the same upgrade treatment. Free Dark Galaxy Text-Based Online Game Posted: 07 Jul 2011 02:47 PM PDT Are you a fan of Mafia Wars? If so then you will definitely dig Dark Galaxy. Dark Galaxy is not exactly new but Todd introduced us to the game and the team seems to be addicted since. It is sort of a text based Mafia Wars style game with an online multiplayer twist. The only real downside is you need to be online to play which sucks on the NYC subway. Instead of taking over the streets you are colonizing planets throughout the galaxy since Earth resources are spent. You have missions, hunt bounties, and kill enemies to your hearts content. Game features include:

Free WordStone BlackBerry PlayBook Game Posted: 07 Jul 2011 01:05 PM PDT The games and apps for the BlackBerry PlayBook keeps rolling in. The latest I have enjoyed is WordStone by Ocean Breeze Games. Terry let me know about this fun word game where you must move tiles around to create words before them crash down on you in a kind of Bookworm meets Ka-Glom. The best part is that the game is totally free. You can pick up the free WordStone game in App World If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Viira Outlook Suite v1.2 Released Improving GTD BlackBerry Solution Posted: 07 Jul 2011 10:44 AM PDT I have a few colleagues that I have introduced to Viira recently and they have been impressed. They recently updated their BlackBerry app to v3.0 but they have just rolled out the update to their Viira Outlook Suite to take advantage of those updates. In case you don't know Viira is an implementation of GTD task management on your BlackBerry and the Outlook Suite syncs those tasks to Outlook over your BES or over USB. This new version 1.2 adds the productivity improvements of the v3.0 BlackBerry client along with enhancements like fast iterative search, faster wireless sync, enhanced UI, reminders and a number of other productivity features. You can read more about the update on their blog. The Viira Outlook Suite has a free 14 day free trial which is nice since the purchase price is $69.99 and works with Outlook 2003, 2007 and 2010. You can find the free trial and purchase options at www.KartaMobile.com. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Boost Mobile Getting BlackBerry Style 9670 Prepaid Posted: 07 Jul 2011 09:30 AM PDT The BlackBerry Style 9670 was a pretty interesting device that had potential but sort of lost most of its luster as a Sprint only exclusive. According to a tip MobileCrunch received Boost will start offering the BlackBerry Style 9670 on their prepaid plans this month which is a nice bump from the previous 8530. The Style has BlackBerry OS 6 with its WebKit browser which is a big update along with a 5MP camera and huge clamshell double screen design. Rumor has the price of the device at $199 in the captured marketing material but in Best Buys inventory system it is showing as $280. Hopefully it launches at the $199 price point. Let us know if you are going to pick one up. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Virgin Mobile Dropping $10 BlackBerry Fee While Raising Rate Plans Posted: 07 Jul 2011 08:06 AM PDT Another leak coming from the smaller US carriers has Virgin Mobile switching up their plans shortly (as early as this month). According to MobileCrunch's tipster Virgin is planning on adding $10 to their 300 minute plan bringing it to $35 and adding $5 to their 1200 minute plan which is now $45. They will be dropping their unlimited everything plan to $55 from $60 which is nice. The best part is that they are no longer charging a $10 "Bolt on charge" for using a BlackBerry on Virgin Mobile. I know a few users who will be very happy about that… Let us know if you use a Virgin Mobile BlackBerry in the comments! Thanks Ashley for the tip! BlackBerry Bold 9900 Already Has a Chinese Knockoff KIRF Posted: 07 Jul 2011 05:41 AM PDT Now this is a first. It looks like a Chinese knockoff KIRF device is already pretending to be a BlackBerry Bold 9900 before the 9900 even launches. Lucas @N4BB noticed this great knockoff selling at DHGate for only $80. You would think it was a steal until you see the spec sheet which is all over the place with my favorite being the inclusion of a Spotwatch whatever that is… to Mobile TV. Check out the features of the Bold 9900 knockoff from the DHGate product page:
