WHO Says Cellphones Possibly Cause Cancer… Hires a Parrot Posted: 01 Jun 2011 03:11 AM PDT This scientific argument back and forth between scientists on the connection between cell phones and cancer baffles me. It has been years going back and forth and the World Health Organization and the International Agency for Research on Cancer have come to the conclusion that cell phone radiation are now classified as "possibly carcinogenic." Seriously! A parrot could have simply repeated the exact studies this working group went over to come to the same inconclusive conclusion. They are using this "Possibly carcinogenic" classification to call for more research. It reminds me about what my dad used to say about scientists and researchers. Their goal is not to find a solution because then they wouldn't have any work or grant money left. Instead they come up with a possibly stimulating hypothesis and ask for more research (aka money). Rinse and repeat. On the other hand with footnotes like the two below I wonder why they even bother:
This all makes me wonder when we will finally get a study that will put this matter to rest one way or another. The thing is what would you do if they found a link? Throw your BlackBerry in the ocean? Full study PDF via AP via Engadget If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

BlackBerry Java SDK 7 Beta & Eclipse Plugin Now Available with 9900/9930 Simulators Posted: 31 May 2011 12:27 PM PDT BlackBerry Java developers got a nice boost today with the release of the BlackBerry Java SDK 7 beta release. Alongside the release RIM has also updated the BlackBerry Java plugin for Eclipse and the BlackBerry Java Development Environment (JDE). They have also thrown in simulators for the BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930 so you can now start to both develop and test BlackBerry OS 7 applications. That is nice since BlackBerry OS 7 adds quite a few new API's and hardware features including OpenGL which are listed here. You can get all three of the updates at the new BlackBerry 7 landing page If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Its an interesting video to watch I will give them that and its really cool to see how people are using BBM around the world. Thanks Don for sending this one in and let us know if you spot more! Pictures of a BlackBerry 9790? What is This Device? Posted: 31 May 2011 06:51 AM PDT Our friends from RealityMirror.me sent us some pictures of a BlackBerry 9790 which really has me scratching my head. According to the tipster this device is significantly faster and thinner than the current BlackBerry Bold 97XX series devices. It looks like it might simply be an upgrade to the BlackBerry Bold 9780 but that makes me wonder where the BlackBerry Bold 9900 stands. This is definitely not a 9900 though it could possibly be a prototype device but it looks like a revamped 9780. So far we know this: Hopefully we will know more soon! Angry Farm v1.1.18 Now Saves Level Progress to SD Card Posted: 31 May 2011 05:55 AM PDT Angry Farm got a small version bump and much needed feature over the long weekend. Smarter Apps updated the game to v1.1.18 which now saves your level progress in the game to your SD card. That means when you switch devices or reload your OS you can easily start up where you left off. A few apps and games have taken this approach but I really wish more would. Better yet would be RIM offering some way for developers to store some of your progress or app data under your BlackBerry ID in the cloud. Smarter Apps has also fixed a bug with an invisible fox on Level 108 which made that level very difficult to clear. If you made it to level 108… You can pick up Angry Farm in the store for $4.99 at this link. If you already own a license you can pick up the update in the store or App World based on where you got it from! If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:
