We have previously covered iDapt’s chargers here on BerryReview. The i1 is iDapt’s portable charger.

  • Description: Like the i4, the i1 Eco is all about interchangeable charging inserts on the device charging end. But on the power source end, the i1 can plug into a car lighter port or a regular outlet.
  • Extra features: For those, like me, who are in constant fear of overcharging their device, the i1 Eco has an Auto Off feature that powers off the charger when the device is charged.
  • Who it is designed for: For the constant traveler, the iDapt allows you to travel with one charging cable and a couple of interchangeable inserts instead of multiple charging cables. Also, as a practical matter, once the i1 Eco is plugged into a power source, it is much easier to replace the charging insert than it is to use a whole new cord.

PrintJinni Lets Users Print Directly to PostScript Printers from their BlackBerry

Posted: 10 Feb 2012 12:39 PM PST

PrintJinni for BlackBerry_3 PrintJinni for BlackBerry PrintJinni for BlackBerry_2

Over the years there there have been quite a few printing solutions for BlackBerry but they either required specific software for certain printer companies or a client installed on your desktop. PrintJinni decided to change that up by allowing BlackBerrys to easily print a wide variety of documents incuding emails, web pages, photos, PDF files, and Office documents DIRECTLY to your printer over Wi-Fi. The catch is that the printer must be a PostScript 3/PCL 5/PCL 6 compatible printer including MFPs.

PrintJinni will detect supported printers on the Wi-Fi network when you connect and will automatically set you up to print. They have been updating it regularly to support more complex web pages and languages along with adding printer support. If printing from your BlackBerry is important to you check out the details on PrintJinni's website or their free 30 day trial in App World. After that it is $0.99/50 days, $1.99/150 days, $2.99/250 days, $3.99/year.

Just to give you an idea of supported printers:

Any PostScript 3/PCL 5/PCL 6 Compatible Printer/MFP with Wi-Fi support/access:
- Dell™ Laser Printers/MFPs
- HP® LaserJet® Printers/MFPs
- Lexmark™ Laser Printers/MFPs
- OKI® Printers/MFPs
- Ricoh® Laser Printers/MFPs
- Samsung® Laser Printers/MFPs
- Xerox® Phaser® Printers/MFPs
- Xerox® ColorQube® Printers/MFPs
- Xerox WorkCentre® Printers/MFPs

Nzb Leeach Makes it Past App World Reviewers

NZB Leech NZB Leech2

You have to love RIM's attempt at curating App World. I personally disagree with their decision to limit application installation to App World on the PlayBook since it will limit the selection of apps to that which RIM can approve. The latest case is an Android port of Nzb Leech which is essentially a Usenet client for the BlackBerry PlayBook. In case you don't know Usenet is the granddaddy of all file sharing networks which is usually a big no no for RIM's crack squad of App World reviewers.

You can check out Nzb Leech for yourself in App World for $4.99 if you have PlayBook OS 2.0. Features include:

  • Import nzb files into NZB Leech and download on the go!
  • Supports multiple simultaneous connections to your favorite usenet provider
  • SSL supported
  • queue nzbs (via a queue folder)
  • resume support (don’t have to restart downloads from beginning)
  • pause/resume download
  • indicates which files are incomplete files (in red text)
  • NOTE: You need a newsgroup provider to use this app

Free Minesweeper Classic Game Ported to the BlackBerry PlayBook (OS 2.0)

Posted: 10 Feb 2012 09:46 AM PST

 Minesweeper Minesweeper2

Lan let me know that Evgeny Braychuk has ported their Classic Minesweeper game to the BlackBerry PlayBook. This will bring back memories of playing minesweeper back in the Windows 3.1 days. The game is totally free but seems to be an Android game port that requires PlayBook OS 2.0. You can post your high scores online and simply have a blast.

Download Classic Minesweeper free from App World from your PlayBook

RIM Promoting BBM Music With Extended Free Trials in 5 Countries

Posted: 10 Feb 2012 08:57 AM PST

BBM Music

I have always though that RIM should simply have launched BBM Music as a free service to entice people to buy BlackBerrys and hook them even more to BBM with a service others like WhatsApp cannot do. Hell at least offer a free level of service with music that is ad supported using your own advertising service! Either way it looks like RIM is plowing forward with free trials instead. Carolyn from RIM announced on RIM's blog that they are continuing to extend the free trials for BBM Music.

They noted that during the month of February 2012, you can download BBM Music FREE for up to 4 months in Canada or the US, or FREE for up to 6 months in the UK, Spain & Italy. I am not sure why Mexico, Netherlands, and Australia don't deserve free trials but I hope they are working on it.

Either way if you have not checked out BBM Music with your friends yet check out the details on BBM Music 1.1 over at blackberry.com/bbmmusic

RIM Releases BlackBerry Curve 9320 Simulator to Devs

Simulator Release

If you needed another sign that the BlackBerry Curve 9320 was coming soon you now have it. N4BB noticed that RIM has released the simulator for the device based on its R049 Armstrong internal codename. The simulator is not the full one yet but it should allow devs to start developing for the new low end devices.

Check it out here on RIM's website
