Update: Latest Leaked OS Versions Add Media Sharing Over Wi-Fi! Posted: 16 Feb 2012 04:10 PM PST UPDATE: We recently learned that RIM was listed as a member of the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and now we have better proof that this will be a feature coming to your BlackBerry. RIM is/has been working hard to get through the hard transition and it just keep getting better to see some of the work they have been doing make it out to the devices. Check out the video below.
Desktop Video Link | Mobile Video LinkVideo Via : CB If you have installed any of the other leaked OS versions today please let us know if you notice this setting under options! It functions sort of like a SAMBA file sharing server where you can access, edit, and delete files from your BlackBerry over Wi-Fi. Pretty cool right! More as this develops. Feel free to send in tips and screenshots showing off the features! If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Developer Creates PlayBook Tiff Viewer App in Less than 24 Hours Posted: 16 Feb 2012 02:20 PM PST
A few people highlighted this story to me this week so I thought it would be worth sharing. Jon Web from Innovatology, the developer of the popular Files & Folders app, decided to set a challenge for himself this past Saturday to see if he could make a solid PlayBook app in less than 24 hours. He tweeted his progress (@BrainsForRent) using the hashtag #PlayBook24 and then wrote up this Twitter transcript of the process. Jon decided to create an app that would allow users to view Tiff image files on their PlayBook. In case you are not familiar with them Tiff images are complex usually large files that can contain multiple pages inside them. They usually result from scans or faxes and tend to be in portrait mode. All in all Jon put 19 hours into developing his Tiff viewer app that he has already submitted to App World. 16 hours to develop and then 2 hours to clean up the design and add an into screen and another hour to optimize the native C code for performance. The results look pretty impressive as you can see in the screenshots. You can keep an eye out for the Tiff viewer in App World under Jon's vendor ID. Plants vs Zombies for PlayBook Priced Differently Based On Country? Posted: 16 Feb 2012 02:01 PM PST Lars pointed out to me an interesting conundrum about the recently released Plants vs Zombies for the PlayBook by PopCap Games (aka EA). When we first mentioned it we said that you could pick up Plants vs Zombies for $6.99 in App World. It turns out that the $6.99 price is only for the US, Canada, and Japan. Everywhere else in the world has a different product page in App World which has a price of $4.99… While I have seen EA pull of this shtick before they usually had the same price for both variants except for variations in the exchange rate. This is the first time I have seen a developer actually charge different prices based on countries/regions. It could be that this is a common practice that I missed but let us know what you have seen! You can see what I mean at the links below: If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Help Us Keep an Eye Out for BlackBerry Bridge v2.0 Update! Posted: 16 Feb 2012 11:45 AM PST
RIM has always put out updates to BlackBerry Bridge as a precursor to a BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet OS update. From what a RIM employee just confirmed of PlayBook OS 2.0 launching on February 21st we can only assume that BlackBerry Bridge will get its update to v2.0 sometime in the next 4 days. This one will be tricky since RIM is closed from Saturday until Monday with the launch happening on Tuesday. Since Monday is Family Day in Canada and Presidents Day in the US there is a chance that RIM might release it today or tomorrow so they have support staff on hand to deal with any issues if they arise. It is also just as possible that they will wait until the last minute like some previous releases. I have been told many times before that the reason RIM releases bridge at least a day earlier is because they need to give it time to propagate it in App World which takes at least a day. Either way help us keep a look out on the BlackBerry Bridge page in App World for updates and send us a tip if you see something new! If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Confirms PlayBook 2.0 February 21st Launch Date on Webcast Posted: 16 Feb 2012 09:59 AM PST We just heard from three different long time readers (thanks Marc, Diego, & David) that RIM just confirmed that PlayBook OS 2.0 will launch on February 21st. They were all listening to the Developing Native Games with the BlackBerry NDK 2.0 webcast we told you about earlier today. During that call one developer asked RIM when the release date is for PlayBook OS 2.0. They answered back that "We’re planning on releasing OS 2.0 on the 21st." So that should clinch the fact that RIM is aiming for a launch on February 21st. I can't wait! If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Best Buy & RIM Training Employees on PlayBook OS 2.0 Posted: 16 Feb 2012 08:31 AM PST We know that the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 is right around the corner so its nice to see RIM encouraging training of sales staff. Denny sent us over an email they have been sending to sales people to learn about the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0. As I have said a few times before RIM realized they needed to ramp up their retail efforts even with simpler things like a demo mode on PlayBooks and training sales people on the device. Here is the email Best Buy is sending out to employees:

SayIt Voice Engine Totally Redone and Updated to 1.3.0 Posted: 16 Feb 2012 08:05 AM PST BachKhoa University just let me know that they are moving SayIt to version 1.3.0. The biggest change to this version is the updated voice engine. SayIt has gone through a lot of turmoil about the engine not being able to recognize the common commands, and took that as constructive criticism. The team over there has redone the workings of the voice engine, and I tested it last night and for the first time it got 10/10 of my commands on the first try. If you have won or purchased it in the past, and got frustrated with it, like many have, I would recommend giving it another shot. You can find it in AppWorld for $4.99. While V-cards are great for Outlook users, gmail, salesforce.com, mobile devices, etc., are left out in many cases. I wanted something simple and easy to solve this as I knew many of those I emailed were having the same challenges I was.” “The simple approach from Contact Monkey,is click on the link, select what format you need (BlackBerry, Outlook, Gmail, etc.) and have it added to your address book.” The easier you make something to use, the more it is used and to use this product is truly that easy!
