Dingleberry v4.0 Cancelled And Source Code Released Posted: 05 Apr 2012 01:45 AM PDT
The Dingleberry PlayBook jailbreaking team has been promising v4.0 for awhile to jailbreak the latest PlayBook OS 2.0 retail build but it has not materialized. A few of our readers pointed out to us that the Dingleberry change log now says that v4.0 is officially cancelled. I am not sure if this is because the team could not find another exploit to gain root access or some other reason but I am sure RIM's BBSIRT is glad to hear it. On another interesting note the Dingleberry team has released the source code for their project. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Updated: RIM Lists Some Top Paid BlackBerry Apps for the Last Three Years! Posted: 04 Apr 2012 03:00 PM PDT Update: We updated the post to reflect that these are not the best selling apps of all time but rather some of the top paid apps… RIM is pulling back the veil a bit more each time it shares some of the success stories on App World. They have always been very vague on all time top selling BlackBerry apps but now they have made another milestone official. They have released a list of some of the top paid BlackBerry apps of the last three years to celebrate App Worlds 3rd birthday. They also point out that Angry Birds set itself up as the top selling BlackBerry PlayBook app. Here is the listing in no specific order:

Devs: Share Your “Unconference” Ideas & Win a Free Pass to BlackBerry 10 Jam + Hotel Posted: 04 Apr 2012 02:08 PM PDT
We told you earlier that RIM was doing something unconventional at BlackBerry 10 Jam called an "Unconference" at their first ever BlackBerry 10 Jam developer conference. An Unconference is where RIM lets the attendees let them know what topics they want to cover. It allows them to better serve devs and round out the conference with last minute session topics on the subjects developers want to cover. RIM has already reached out to attendees asking them to suggest topics for the Unconference but now they have taken it a step further. You can win a free pass to the BlackBerry 10 Jam developer conference along with a three night hotel stay. All you have to do to enter is suggest a topic for the Unconference in the comments below. We will choose the best suggestion submitted by Tuesday April 10th at 11:59PM EST and hopefully notify the winner shortly thereafter. Check out the details on BlackBerry 10 Jam here. I recommend you flesh out your topic suggestions beyond a simple basic subject. For example, "How do I execute a successful public beta for my BlackBerry 10 app" is a good suggestion but free free to frame the reason for why the suggested topic is important to you as a developer! Good luck! NOTE: This is a developer conference and will be held from May 1st until May 3rd 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Please do not enter if you are not a developer and cannot make it for the conference. This contest is for a conference pass and hotel stay and does not include anything else such as airfare. RIM Publishes BlackBerry 10 WebWorks Framework Code on GitHub Posted: 04 Apr 2012 01:13 PM PDT If you are a code junky like me and love seeing where RIM is taking WebWorks in BlackBerry 10 you may want to check out their GitHub repository. Josep noticed that RIM has posted up two new repositories on their GitHub profile including: Both of these seem really boring until you check out the BB10-Framework-WebWorks "Next" branch which has been updated much more recently and the BlackBerry-WebWorks/next-system-api it keeps on merging changes too and from.. I have been digging through it to see if they have implemented any of the API calls that developers need to create super apps. Let us know if you find anything interesting! Union Drops the Price On Many of their PlayBook Games Posted: 04 Apr 2012 12:23 PM PDT A few readers sent us in tips about a new "Welcome to PlayBook" promotion Union has been running on their PlayBook games. According to Union's description the promotion is supposed to be for Castle Warriors, Diversion, Psychoban, and Snuggle Truck but others also seem to be included. For example, AirAttack used to be $2.99 and is now only $0.99. I have no idea when this promotion started but it supposedly is to celebrate the PlayBook price drop that happened months ago… Let us know if you figure it out! Either way you can pick up some solid Union games on your PlayBook, mostly $0.99, in App World. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Free Recycle Bin App Restores Deleted Email, Contacts, & More Posted: 04 Apr 2012 08:22 AM PDT
The latest app from Amaira Soft is a very useful one called Recycle Bin and is totally free. What Recycle Bin does once it is installed is let you restore your deleted email, contacts, tasks, memos, and calendar entries you have deleted. Keep in mind this only works for items that have been deleted since you installed the app. The only catch is that if you restore a deleted email it shows up as a draft due to a technical limitation of the BlackBerry OS. Check out Recycle Bin free in App World for OS 4.6+ devices. Thanks Phillip for sending this one in via BBNews.pl. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Josep @MiBlackBerry noticed that the popular HTML5 ranking website www.html5test.com now shows entries for PlayBook OS 2.1. It also shows that RIM has been testing BlackBerry 10 on the PlayBook and smartphones. Right now PlayBook OS 2.1 is taking the lead with 381 points compared to OS 2.0's 373 and BlackBerry 10's 364. Extreme Flight Premium Game Comes to BlackBerry Smartphones Posted: 04 Apr 2012 06:02 AM PDT Its been awhile since I have seen a good flying game for BlackBerry smartphones which is why I am digging Extreme Flight Premium. This relatively new game from TechSoft Ventures launched earlier this month in App World and I have to say I am impressed. What you need to do is fly your plane through the many rings on the screen to pass a level. There are different planes that force you to fly them differently through the obstacle course. There are 4 zones with 40 levels of un to be had. Check out Extreme Flight Premium for $0.99 in App World. There is a cross platform trailer for the game below: Desktop Video Link | Mobile Video LinkIf you liked this article, you might find these interesting:
