Free FruityPush Sokoban Game for the BlackBerry PlayBook

Posted: 11 May 2012 10:55 AM PDT

Fruitypush2 Fruitypush3

I have been hooked on Sokoban style puzzle games for years. My current challenge is FruityPush by BOA Tender for the BlackBerry PlayBook. The totally free game offers single player fun with auto save along with letting you save at milestones throughout the game. There are 61 levels of fun with up to 192 tiles in play. They do offer unlimited undo steps but sadly they are not saved when you close or when you reload a milestone.

Check out the fun FruityPush game in App World. You may need to read up a bit on Sokoban to understand how the game works.

New TV Advertisement From BlackBerry UK Resonates Well

Posted: 11 May 2012 09:50 AM PDT

 BlackBerry People

RIM just hired its new CMO but the changes he plans on implementing have us waiting in anticipation especially in the US market. Until then Kevin spotted (@CrackBerry) a new TV advertisement posted by BlackBerry UK that I think resonates well. Its must better than the Be Bold messaging and better reflects what Thorsten Heins said during his keynote at BlackBerry World about who BlackBerry People are.

We believe life’s made up of two kinds of people. Those content to go with the flow, and those who grab life with both hands. If you are someone who seizes opportunities, asks the questions, makes things happen, BlackBerry is designed for you

Check it out below and let us know what you think!

RIM Applies for Two More Fuel Cell Patents

Posted: 11 May 2012 09:36 AM PDT

RIM Fuel Cell

It seems like RIM is doing some serious R&D into fuel cells for BlackBerry smartphones. Engadget uncovered two more fuel cell technology patents for putting fuel cells into electronics. One is for the design of the frame and one for the fuel cell container itself. The patents highlight how you would fit the fuel cell into a device.

No word on if this will see the light of day before 2020 but its nice to see how far in the future RIM is looking. Check out the patents Here (USPTO) and Here (USPTO).

KakaoTalk Cross Platform Instant Messenger Comes to BlackBerry

Posted: 11 May 2012 07:52 AM PDT

KakaoTalk3 KakaoTalk2

I still think that Brent Rose from Gizmodo said it best when he stated that "we need another messenger app like we need extra nipples." Normally it would be a non event for another cross platform messenger to come to the BlackBerry OS but the latest is KakaoTalk. KakaoTalk is very popular in its native country of Korea and other locations nearby. They currently support BlackBerry, Android, and iOS with Windows Phone coming later this month. They don't really have any standout feature and the service seems very similar to WhatsApp. Still it hits all the right notes and adds a twist by letting you get various content for adding a favorite brand, star, or media as a friend.

Check out KakaoTalk free in App World or at www.kakao.com

Collage Builder for the BlackBerry PlayBook Lets You Set the Scene (Android)

 Collage

I have really been into collages since I made one for our anniversary last year. David let us know about his fun to use Collage app that he ported to the BlackBerry PlayBook and it actually works quite well. It allows you to build collages out of the pictures on your BlackBerry and arrange them around. You can then add text and stamps to change things up along with borders around the pictures. Check out the video below to see how it works:

You can find Collage for $1.99 in App World or at www.collageforplaybook.com
