Wunderlist Brings Their Cross Platform Task Manager to the PlayBook (Android) Posted: 24 May 2012 11:47 AM PDT
Wunderlist was released for BlackBerry smartphones earlier this year and now it has come to the PlayBook courtesy of the Android player. In case you don't know Wunderlist is a free and easy to use task manager and todo list organizer. It also packs powerful features like cloud sync and multiplatform support with a free Wunderlist account. Many users have already been sideloading the Wunderlist app onto the PlayBook but Adam @CrackBerry noticed that Wunderlist has released it themselves in App World for free. Hopefully they will see the demand and release a native client. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Rumor: Heins Not Pursuing BBM Licensing & Cross Platform Clients Posted: 24 May 2012 11:36 AM PDT
An always hot point of contention for BlackBerry users and former BlackBerry users was RIM potentially licensing BBM or creating their own cross platform clients for BBM. According to the latest rumor mill from the WSJ this project, unofficially dubbed "SMS 2.0" at RIM, has been put on the back burner. According to this source RIM's previous CEO's were pursuing licensing BBM which led to their private acquisition of LiveProfile last year. Supposedly Thorsten Heins has ended the BBM push and decided RIM "should not pursue licensing deals in general." I am sort of glad that RIM has decided to not license BBM since that is one of their main strengths. They just need to keep on making it relevant and pushing the envelope especially with the launch of BB10. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Free Modern Combat for the BlackBerry PlayBook Updated to v4.0 Posted: 24 May 2012 09:05 AM PDT I always keep a sharp eye out for updates to Modern Combat for the PlayBook since there are a few annoying bugs in the game. Most of them have been ironed out so far but they just released v4.0 of Modern Combat for the PlayBook that should hopefully knock all of them out. You can find the latest updated Modern Combat from Gameloft in App World. Thanks RE for sending this one in via BBIN.in If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM EVP of Sales Patrick Spence Leaves After 14 Years Posted: 24 May 2012 08:28 AM PDT
There is a definite change of the guard going on at RIM. A big chunk of the old RIM executive team is leaving or being shown the door while others are adapting to the new reality of Thorsten Heins and his vision for RIM. The latest to leave is RIM's EVP of Sales, Patrick Spence (@Patrick_Spence), who held the title for 10 months and has been at RIM for 14 years. His exit may also have to do with the new COO and CMO that RIM just hired. Here is RIM's confirmation of Spence's departure:

Cute and Cuddly Animal Rescue Memory Game for the PlayBook (Children) Posted: 24 May 2012 07:50 AM PDT There has been a growing trend in the mobile app industry to create games for kids. The latest I have spotted in Animal Rescue that Josef showed me on his PlayBook. The app is sort of like memory with a few changes to up the gameplay with cute and colorful adventures. In the game aliens have captured animals on earth for their private pet collection and kids need to match them one at a time to save them. The better they do the less time they have to do it in the future with some bonuses that will help along the way. Check out Animal Rescue for a very reasonable $0.99 in App World If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Gelaskins: Ultra Thin Scratch Protection With Style Posted: 24 May 2012 05:11 AM PDT Ever since I saw Ronen’s Gelaskinned 9700, I was fascinated with the design, quality, and how the downloaded wallpaper flowed with the skin. Since we haven’t mentioned Gelaskins in almost a year, I wanted to make sure all of our readers are familiar with them. Gelaskins are affordable, customizable, and a great way to make your device stand out in a crowd. The skin is a high quality, 3M removable/reusable sticker that is very easy to install and doesn’t leave any sticky residue behind. One of the coolest features is how you can download the matching wallpaper for your skin so it looks like it flows onto the background of your screen. I tried out the do it yourself feature for the first time recently and here’s the result: It’s very easy to upload your own pictures or artwork and then arrange it just how you want it to appear on your skin. Gelaskins are available for $14.95 for BlackBerry handset and $19.95 for your PlayBook. Check em out and let us know what you get, or which one you already have! No related posts.
