Free ScrapBook PlayBook App Gets 3D Theme Pack Upgrade Posted: 15 May 2012 01:14 AM PDT RIM and TAT are on a roll with theme pack updates to the free PlayBook ScrapBook app. The latest is a 3D pack that seems to be based on the anaglyphed red (left eye) and cyan (right eye) filtered 3D glasses from back in the day. I don't have a pair handy to test it out but I definitely wil be getting a pair shortly. Check out the new 3D pack by downloading ScrapBook if you do not already have it installed. If you have it already just look under the "New" tab for the new pack. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

PlayBook OS 2.0 Aces Sencha HTML5 Development Scorecard Posted: 14 May 2012 01:26 PM PDT This little tidbit was lost during all the craziness of BlackBerry World and BlackBerry 10 Jam but I think it is still worth mentioning. Jerry let us know that Sencha put the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 through their various tests for HTML5 and found that it had improved upon an already solid HTML5 platform. In their previous scorecard they said that the PlayBook OS 1.0 was superior to Android 3.0's browser overall and an excellent HTML5 platform. Their follow up scorecard for PlayBook OS 2.0 goes even further to call it a Very Fine HTML5 browser stating that:
Devs can check out the full scorecard here. I am just waiting to see what they say once they get a hold of the browser that RIM started showing and revealed in the BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha devices… If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

More Pictures Of BlackBerry 10 Homescreen, Keyboard, & Camera Come Out Posted: 14 May 2012 11:40 AM PDT We are seeing more pictures of BlackBerry 10 showing up on various media outlets today thanks to RIM having a media briefing in London. They have been giving journalists on the other side of the pond a look at the features of the upcoming BlackBerry 10 devices but not much more than they showed off at BlackBerry World. They do give us more insight into the BlackBerry 10 Homescreen experience and its gestures that Thorsten Heins and other execs did not focus on during the keynote. In the briefing RIM showed of the main homescreen with the multitasking four last apps that are running minimized with updating information like calendar and photos. We also see the application tray that you will get with a swipe left gesture to launch other apps with a swipe right gesture giving you access to your unified inbox. I also see the search box but RIM has yet to show off universal search… Check out the reports at Cnet.co.uk and KnowYourMobile for more info (via CrackBerry) If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

BlackBerry 10 Jam Conference 2012 (Aka DevCon) is Sep 25-27 in San Jose, California Posted: 14 May 2012 10:23 AM PDT
RIM has renamed the BlackBerry Developer Conference (DevCon) to BlackBerry 10 Jam Americas. They have also announced that it will be held on September 25-27 in San Jose, California instead of San Francisco this year. I am really excited for the conference but sadly it looks like I will not be able to make it this year since it is scheduled right in the middle of the Jewish High Holiday Yom Kippur. Hopefully RIM changes the date (I have my fingers crossed!) but if not we will have someone else from the team covering the show. Keep an eye out at www.blackberryjamconference.com for more info. This show is sure to be a crowd pleaser since RIM should be ready to with the end product when it comes to developer tools and functionality at that point. BlackBerry Bridge Gets Tiny Update to v2.0.0.31 Posted: 14 May 2012 09:06 AM PDT
RIM has pushed out a tiny update to BlackBerry Bridge. We were hoping it would be leading up to a new PlayBook OS or SMS bridge features from the upcoming OS 2.1 but no such luck for now. The new version just brings us to v2.0.0.31 from the previous 2.0.0.30. Tom sent in the change log which simply states:

Devs: RIM Announces BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour Dates & Locations Posted: 14 May 2012 08:55 AM PDT
We now have confirmation of the official dates and locations for RIM's BlackBerry 10 Jam World Tour. It starts hitting the road at the end of the month from Milan, Italy and does a zigzag style tour until it ends this August in Mexico City. RIM did clarify that there will be a limited number of BlackBerry 10 Alpha devices for "Qualified Developers" at each city in the World Tour. You can apply to receive one if you attend only if you have not already received one but it looks like RIM may reserve the right to qualify developers. Check out the tour dates below: May 29 – Milan, Italy I should be stopping by the NYC one but I am waiting for RIM to announce the dates. Let us know if you will be at one of the events!
