RIM’s Latest Patent Shows Charging Cellphone Holster Posted: 17 May 2012 01:09 AM PDT
I have always been a huge fan of holsters for my BlackBerry and really missed the old CaseMate Fuel charging holster I used to have on my Bold 9000. Engadget spotted a new patent awarded to RIM after a filing in 2012 for a "Handheld electronic device with holster having a notification device." They describe it as:
In other words this reminds me clearly of the CaseMate Fuel cases from back in the day. I wonder if RIM will continue the holster tradition with the BlackBerry 10 line. Check out the full patent filing here. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Trustbe Baby Monitor for BlackBerry Smartphones Posted: 16 May 2012 03:02 PM PDT Jeff let me know about Baby Monitor for BlackBerry that he just started using. Trustbe released this app over a month ago and it allows you to stream audio from one BlackBerry to another over Wi-Fi, 3G, EDGE, and more. You just select one device to be the parent station and one to be the baby monitor. Jeff let me know that he just repurposed one of his old BlackBerry's lying around into a easy baby monitor for a few bucks. If you are in need of a Baby Monitor check out Trustbe's solution in App World for $3.99. Trustbe recommends just using the same BlackBerry ID to download the app onto two devices without paying twice but that would eat into your yearly device changes in App World. Stunt Pear Physics Game Comes to the BlackBerry PlayBook Posted: 16 May 2012 12:43 PM PDT I have a thing for physics games and Stunt Pear by Chocolate Mouse Games does not disappoint. It offers up 144 physics puzzles for you to throw your pear through with gears, canons, bubbles, and more. The game is definitely worth checking out if these sorts of puzzles are your thing. You can find Stunt Pear in App World for a very reasonable $0.99 If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Titanium Appcelerator Coming This Fall for BlackBerry 10 Posted: 16 May 2012 11:03 AM PDT Appcelerator announced that they were bringing Titanium to BlackBerry 10 while we were at BlackBerry World but their CEO was not specific on when. RIM has posted up a video interview with Kevin Whinnery from Appcelerator talking about their progress. Whinnery points out that Appcelerator is aiming for a fall release of their solution for BlackBerry 10 and is making some great progress. Just in case you don't know Titanium is a solution that allows developers to write applications in JavaScript which is abstracted (aka Translated) into native C code by Titanium. That will allow the over 300,000 developers who use Titanium Appcelerator to target BlackBerry 10 for apps. Check out the video below or more at www.appcelerator.com:

Free Minesweeper Reloaded Game For the BlackBerry PlayBook Posted: 16 May 2012 08:55 AM PDT Stephan let us know about his release of Minesweeper Reloaded for the BlackBerry PlayBook. As far as I can tell the game is built on WebWorks and runs nicely on the PlayBook. The gameplay follows the classic Minesweeper rules with the developer hoping to add multiplayer and audio effects in future updates. beExecutor Old School “Executor” Sound Effect App for Touchscreen BlackBerrys Posted: 16 May 2012 07:54 AM PDT
@Footose let us know about his latest release called beExecutor. beExecutor replicates the classic Executor sound effect keychain many of us screwed around with as kids. It packs the classic 8-bit sounds of the original eight sound effects including: Bomb "Sound Effects", Explosions, Siren, "Machine Gun", Phasers, Lasers, Falls and a Gatling Gun. Right now beExecutor is only available for most touchscreen BlackBerrys but it should be coming to all BlackBerrys shortly. Check out beExecutor in App World for $0.99. Free SFlix App Makes Animated BBM Avatars from Videos or Pictures Posted: 16 May 2012 07:01 AM PDT Ashley pointed out a cool new app called SFlix on App World. The new smartphone app from Max Solution allows you to easily create an animated avatar for BBM using pictures or a video. It works well and gets the job done so it may be worth downloading to get your own custom BBM avatar. Check out SFlix free in App World for OS 5.0+ devices If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Free Wi-Fi File Transfer App for BlackBerry Smartphones Posted: 16 May 2012 05:53 AM PDT I love the flexibility of being able to transfer files to my BlackBerry over Wi-Fi. I am currently using the Wi-Fi server in Fixmo Tools that is free during RIM's current promotion for BlackBerry 7 devices. Jason let me know that there is another alternative called Wi-Fi File Transfer from Amaira Soft. It lets you simply setup a Wi-Fi file server on your BlackBerry smartphone and access the files from your browser including pictures and video as long as they are on the same Wi-Fi network.
