Pinbook Beta Wants to Help You Meet People on BBM Posted: 23 Sep 2011 01:36 AM PDT We knew when RIM released the BBM SDK that there would be many apps jumping on the bandwagon to help you meet new BBM friends. The latest comes from S4BB and promises to help you "reach out and meet new people" through BBM. You setup characteristics about yourself including age, country, gender, interests, language, location, and time zone and the app will match you up with new friends. Pinbook seems to be free during the beta period but the description says it has a "30 day value back guarantee" which hints that it might not remain free. Check out the Pinbook beta for yourself in App World. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Going All in for Rugby World Cup 2011 With Apps & Facebook Fun Posted: 22 Sep 2011 02:08 PM PDT The Rugby World Cup 2011 is currently going on down under and ends on October 23rd. RIM is one of the official sponsors of the event and they are there in full force and even giving away BlackBerry PlayBooks. They have thrown up a dedicated landing page for their Rugby World Cup 2011 activities at www.blackberry.com/rugby. There is also a BlackBerry Smartphone and PlayBook Rugby World Cup app in App World that we mentioned previously. Last but not least my favorite part is their BlackBerry Australia and New Zealand Face Pain Facebook app that they have going. On the respective Facebook pages you can show your team colors by painting your face though sadly it crashed my browser before I could get a screenshot. Check it out here or all the details on the Inside BlackBerry blog. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Throwing 9 More BBM Apps Hackathons Including International Cities! Posted: 22 Sep 2011 11:33 AM PDT I was impressed by the first BBM Apps Hackathon RIM threw in NYC and they promised to have more. @AlexKinsella pointed out that they have followed up on that promise with the announcement of NINE new Hackathons in the US, Canada, and around the world. Here is a list of the events:
The next event is in Waterloo and is open to residents of Canada and the US. RIM is throwing a contest for the Waterloo event offering up 30 chances (+10 possible extra wildcard entries) that you have to enter to come to the event. Winners will also get a one night stay in a standard room on September 28th, 2011 at the Destination Inn in Waterloo and a BlackBerry gift pack. They will also be feeding the attendees with a approximate value of $1,000 for each prize. Check out the details and the locations for all the BBM Hackathon events here If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Doodle Run Game for the BlackBerry PlayBook Posted: 22 Sep 2011 08:55 AM PDT Doodle games seem to be popular now and Doodle Run by TwinPinStudio does not disappoint. The game has you moving Doodle around a monster infested jungle or city collecting diamonds along the way. You simply move the doodle around avoiding monsters while collecting his diamonds sort of like PacMan. Check out Doodle Run in App World for $0.99 If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

BBM Music UK Launch Party Gets Video Remix by EMKWAN Posted: 22 Sep 2011 07:49 AM PDT I am not sure why RIM is already throwing a launch party for BBM Music when it is still in beta but at least they are having fun. @emkwan of the EMKWAN PROJECT let us know they made a remixed video montage of the BlackBerry BBM Music PR event in London. Check it out below or the pictures on Facebook and let us know what you think. Desktop Video Link | Mobile Video LinkIf you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Newspile Offers Another Google Reader App for the PlayBook Posted: 22 Sep 2011 06:54 AM PDT
I am really loving the number of apps that are coming out for the PlayBook for Google Reader. The latest to join the fray is Newspile by Dennis Schneider. This new app "focuses on simplicity and design" and seems to hit that target but it is missing offline caching which is what I want. The feature set of Newspile includes:
You can pick up Newspile in App World for $2.99 If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

YouMail for BlackBerry Updated With Visual Caller ID & More Posted: 22 Sep 2011 05:49 AM PDT YouMail updated their BlackBerry app this week with some sweet new features. Their latest v2.5.17 of their app adds an interesting new concept they are calling Visual Caller ID. It identifies both missed callers and callers who have left messages with a name along with an image and city/state info about the call even if they are not in your address book. They also updated the app to be "more reliable, faster, and better looking" which is always good. Here are the new features:
You can get this latest version of YouMail in BlackBerry App World the only catch is it is only OS 5.0+ for this update. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:
