Get Your Game On with ToFu & ToFu2 on the BlackBerry PlayBook

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 02:58 PM PST

ToFu2 2 ToFu1 1

A colleague picked up a BlackBerry PlayBook for the holidays and was asking for game recommendations. I immediately thought of ToFu & Tofu2 and he loved them. Then I realized that somehow we have never mentioned these great games on BerryReview… and decided to remedy that.

ToFu1 3 ToFu2

ToFu: The Trials of Chi and ToFu2 the sequel are awesome strategy/puzzle games for the PlayBook. You control this soy hero and bounce him around the level through the obstacles and challenges. It is all quite fun and the price is right.

Both Tofu and Tofu2 are selling for a very reasonable $0.99 each in App World:

Verizon Planning on Charging Customers $2 Convenience Fee for Online Payments

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 10:12 AM PST

Verizon Convenience Fee

You have to love how carriers try to nickel and dime you. This time rumor has it that Verizon Wireless plans on squeezing another $2 out of customers who do not have autopay setup on their account and pay their bill monthly online. This "convenience charge" was spotted by Droid-Life and is intended to allow Verizon "to continue to support these bill payment options."

So now we have a fee for paying your bill? My guess is next month AT&T will try to up the ante by making a fee to see your bill… Anybody else scared of what these monkeys will do if they control NFC payments?

Rumour: OVER 9000?!?! Yes! It’s the BlackBerry 10000

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:49 AM PST

There has been a lot of speculation on the use of 5 digit model numbers for BlackBerry for a while,  with the latest device being the 9981 there isn’t much further they can go with four. It also makes sense to start with ’10′ for the new bb10 devices.  It could play out in a probable situation for them in terms of branding and the next step for RIM.

N4BB has just outed an Asurion screen cap of an internal form that shows the BlackBerry Torch 10000 in a drop down menu. In a further selection menu AT&T is also listed as a carrier for the device. Could this be the London? Im also curious to see what model this is, because they list it as a Torch.

The iPhone 5 is also listed in the menus on the system, let us know what you think!

HootSuite for BlackBerry Comes Out of Beta on App World

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:29 AM PST

HootSuite Update

HootSuite has been working on their BlackBerry client since their first private beta in July of 2010. They finally released a beta in October of 2010 and have steadily been improving it since. Their BlackBerry client is still listed as a beta on their website and download site but spinrekkids @BBOS noticed that HootSuite has finally pushed out HootSuite v1.0 on App World for free.

There does not seem to be any changes I can see but hopefully an announcement will come soon. Until then here are the features from the beta:

  • Manage multiple social identities and accounts
  • Receive optional background notifications for updates
  • Create custom views for tags and searches
  • Schedule messages to send in the future
  • Examine Ow.ly click-through stat reports
  • Share and store photos and files
  • Shorten URLs with Ow.ly

You can pick up HootSuite v1.0 from App World. Let us know if you spot anything new!

Are You a Brusque Emailer? Let Us Know Your Email Etiquette!

Posted: 29 Dec 2011 07:06 AM PST

Email Etiquette fun

People tell me that I am pretty blunt via email but I consider it a form of efficiency. That is why I was pleasantly surprised when a friend sent me an article from Entrepreneur by Ross Mccammon that seemed to mirror my sentiments about email etiquette. I absolutely love his philosophy of brusque emailing and making a call when email is impractical.

I highly recommend reading the whole article over at the Entrepreneur but here are a few highlights:

  • "What Would Robert De Niro Type?" Here’s how it works: You get an e-mail. You read that e-mail. You respond to the e-mail as if you were Robert De Niro. You will find that your e-mail responses will involve messages like "Sure" and "Great" and "Yes" and "No" and "Perfect" and "Come on" and "Sorry."
  • "Just because you receive an e-mail doesn’t mean you need to reply by e-mail,"
  • You might not receive a 500-word e-mail that ends with the worst question of all time: "Thoughts?"
  • Ask yourself if you would CC yourself. Easy with the CC.
  • If your message is less than seven words, put it in the subject line.

I plan on forwarding this one to quite a few contacts… :)

Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2012 Sponsored By BlackBerry

Dick Clark NYRE

Its hard to believe that Dick Clark has been hosting New Year's Rockin' Eve for 40 years. I actually managed to catch it live one year in Times Square and it was actually pretty impressive. This year RIM seems to be spending their marketing efforts lavishly and announced on their blog that "We're gonna start by taking center stage in the USA's biggest New Year's Eve party – Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest, sponsored by BlackBerry!"

Should be one hell of a show! I am really hoping RIM manages to pull off some good angles for their sponsorship.

Are Cellphones Killing Us? How About Twitter? (Infographic Fun)

Infographic Fun

I usually try to resist the urge to post any infographics but it is the holiday season so I have been letting loose. Today I have two infographics for you. One points out how cellphones are killing us. The other simply parodies all infographics by showing how infographics are just another example of "Lies, damn lies, and statistics!" :)

Check them out below:
