BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 Launching February 17th? Posted: 19 Jan 2012 11:27 AM PST I have been hearing fluctuating RIM internal target release dates for BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 for awhile now. They mostly seem to be somewhere in the week of February 15th though I have heard some outliers. I just received confirmation from a very solid source that RIM is committed & scheduled to launch PlayBook OS 2.0 on February 17th. That seems to jibe with everything else I have been hearing along with the rumor mill. You have to take any rumor like like this with a grain of salt but I am really looking forward to getting an official copy of OS 2.0 on my PlayBook in less than a month! Are you being STALKED on BBM? Here’s some help Posted: 19 Jan 2012 11:10 AM PST Ever feel that some contacts need an instant reply once seeing the ‘R’ on BlackBerry Messenger(BBM) or just want to read messages and reply to them later, again, wanting to avoid showing the ‘R’? Well Peep It Beta is your solution. It is a 3rd party app that loads your BBM messages in to their application for you to read them without changing the status in BBM. If you choose to reply to it you can then hit reply within Peep It and it will load BBM and change the status to R and the conversation continues. You can snag the beta from the OTA. If you have any issues you can email a screenshot to their support team. A screen shot after the break. Please be advised that this is just a beta and issue might arise. RIM Asking Devs to Test Their PlayBook Apps for OS 2.0 By February 7th Posted: 19 Jan 2012 10:39 AM PST I am not sure how much insight this provides into when BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 will launch but it is worth mentioning. RIM sent out notices this week to BlackBerry PlayBook developers asking them to test their applications on the BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 simulator or public beta. They then go on to request that:
App World acceptance for updated apps usually ranges in the 1-5 days range with longer acceptance testing for new apps. It could be that RIM expects to get inundated with update requests but that seems unlikely. Still it does leave the possibility that RIM might roll out the PlayBook OS 2.0 release before February 29th at 11:59PM. Here is the full text of the email they sent out:

Catapult Grandpa Through Prison Walls on Your PlayBook Posted: 19 Jan 2012 08:51 AM PST I have seen some odd games over the years but this one is pretty funny. Dan let me know about Catapult that was released by Pinkin in App World. It has you launching "grandpa" out of prison using a slingshot and aiming for a hole in the prison wall. I am not sure exactly what the story is with the app but after searching online for "Catapult Grandpa" I found this free flash game that seems to be the same thing. If you enjoy the fun you can pick up Catapult for your BlackBerry PlayBook for $0.99 in App World If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

Verizon Launches BlackBerry Curve 9370 Posted: 19 Jan 2012 08:33 AM PST Right on schedule Verizon has launched the elusive BlackBerry Curve 9370. They promised it would launch today and Adam @CrackBerry noticed that it is now available. The BlackBerry Curve 9370 is a bit of an anomaly with both CDMA and GSM radios making it the first World Phone Curve model. It also has slightly more RAM at 512MB but otherwise it is almost identical to the Curve 9350. You can find the BlackBerry Curve 9370 on Verizon's website for $99.99 (thankfully Verizon ditched the $50 Mail in Rebate) If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

RIM Lays Out Broad Topics for BlackBerry World Conference Posted: 19 Jan 2012 07:53 AM PST
RIM sent out an email to alumni of their BlackBerry World Conference today stating that registration will open up in February. BlackBerry World is scheduled for May 1st-3rd in Orlando, Florida again and we are looking for any indication of what we will see there. Will it be BlackBerry 10 phones? BBM on the PlayBook? etc. RIM has shed a tiny bit of light on "some of the session topics" for the event but they seem to cover just about everything:
The big question is when for many of the hot topics from RIM. Let us know what you think RIM will reveal at BlackBerry World 2012 and check out the little RIM has revealed at www.blackberryworld.com. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:

BlackBerry PlayBook Native SDK Beta 3 Now Available Posted: 19 Jan 2012 07:38 AM PST This is not exactly the Cascades UI packing Native SDK we have been waiting for but it is a nice step forward. RIM has released the BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet OS Native SDK Beta 3 today. I am really loving the rapid release cycle for these SDK's especially considering RIM's previous track record with Java SDKs. According to RIM this new beta release builds in feedback from the many different companies and individual developers who are bringing their apps to the PlayBook. That feedback allows them to evolve their tooling, APIs, and more. Here are the updates in this Beta 3 release of the Native SDK: Tooling enhancements:
API improvements:
Documentation updates:
You can pick up the new BlackBerry PlayBook Native SDK Beta 3 from RIM with full release notes or read more in their blog announcement. If you liked this article, you might find these interesting:
